When people discover news

My 31 year old brother discovered news for the first time this weekend.

It may sound odd, but the news and happenings of the world had not seemed important to him and he would do anything to avoid watching or reading the news.

As we know Friday morning brought the massive earthquake and following tsunami to Japan - for the first time, through no choice of his own, my brother saw the tsunami hit with images taken in real time! From that point forward he has quoted facts, figures and unfortunate incidents.

He has been able to follow every step of the disaster through the 24 hour business which is broadcast journalism - I just feel lucky he's not on twitter at this stage or we may know personal stories as well.

I wonder whether this will mean he will now follow what's happening outside his bubble or is this just a one time thing?

We have also found every local newspaper trying to find a link to it's readers - not able to just report devastation they are ensuring that it is part of everyone's lives - Hopefully meaning that more people will try to help with aid - Evening Gazette Middlesbrough

So the sun rises in the east...

We all know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west bringing us new days and new nights.

But in my eyes it should rise on the right and set on the left...

If you think as if the you're standing on a flat surface which is held vertical if you're facing the top the sun would rise on you're right..all is right with the world. If you're facing down it would rise on you're left... and that is totally confusing!...ever heard of the syaing - getting up on the wrong side of the bed..? This is the reason!

We're having a very philosophical day today so the thoughts they just keep coming...

To the weekend and the sun!

And here we are again, another weekend is upon us but what to do and what’s brought us here?

Well, we’ve had a week of politicians being accused of being gay and books that are tipped for the top. We were also supplied with the identity of The Stig and the divorce of Cheryl Cole and Ashley – which according to some papers took only a second!

It seems a little sad for Top Gear that their beloved creation - the character of a ‘tame racing driver’ has been plunged into oblivion with the news that Ben Collins, a former Formula Three driver and movie stunt driver was behind the helmet. Sadder still that they are rumored to have kicked Ben out of the white suit!

As for speculations about the sexuality of William Hague, I believe it all stems from reports that he shared a room with another employee but who hasn’t done that..? And has anyone stopped to look whether any other party members shared sleeping quarters? I’m not particularly partial to any party – the classic floating voter – but I do feel a little sorry for Hague…these reports have lead to him disclosing key personal information which I’m sure he would have rather kept to himself…unfortunately it also means that if his marriage ever does breakdown the stories will resurface. Life in the public means nothing will ever be forgotten...especially now that everything can be digitally saved.

I’ll reserve judgment on the book until I’ve read it.

So to the weekend I hear you cry…well after 2 hours sleep our intrepid designer was due on set at 6am this weekend and I’ve been told that the journey was just as accident prone as usual! Me on the other hand…after a quiet week in all respects I’m hoping for a loud weekend and the start of the new gym program.

I’ll be back with some stories when I’ve consulted the troops!

Introducing Tam

Slightly later than planned but the random musings commence ...and I have help!

First lets introduce Tam.

So Tam, the designer from this terrible trio lives a very exciting life...one minute she runs out of petrol on the motorway, with a key statement ..."Did you know if you run out of petrol the car just stops..? It just stops!"

The next the soft top of her borrowed car shrinks in the sun...later we found that actually she'd been trying to put the top on back to front...

And for this week...whoever managed to get a personal shopper in a supermarket..? No, not me either but Tam managed it somehow!
